Steve Goodson the Designer

Since taking up the saxophone in 1961, I can honestly say that I've been somewhat obsessed!  I started taking money for playing (at age 14) in 1964, and have appeared with many internationally recognized acts as a sideman, including Dr. John; Solomon Burke; Marcia Ball; Chubby Checker, Joey Dee, Edwin McCain, The Commodores; The Temptations, The Four Tops,  Martha and the Vandellas, Ernie K-Doe, Jesse Hill, Eddie Money; Vince Vance, and many, many others. I've been doing saxophone repair and selling vintage horns since 1974. I am a member of Local 174 of the American Federation of Musicians,  North American Saxophone Alliance, NAPBIRT, and NAMM. I maintain a studio of about 20 students. I'm a very active  free - lance performer, and am the leader of "Steve Goodson and the Low Budget Horns" (tenor, bari, trumpet, trombone) a rent-a-horn- section available for recording and live work. I also lead “Plaunche  Baptiste (one of my several registered stage names) and His Creole Backsliders”, a traditional New Orleans marching band. I am Chief Designer of LA Sax Steve Goodson & Saxgourmet models and endorsing Artist for LA Sax Steve Goodson & Saxgourmet models, Phat Reeds, Masterpiece Necks, Runyon Mouthpieces, and MusicMedic repair supplies.

"The Music Business is a cruel and  shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and  pimps run free and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."   Hunter S. Thompson
