NECK

Thread first inch

Polish entire neck interior

Open both pips to #38 drill size

thread both pips

use high quality grainless cork clarinet pad for both pips

install Teflon shrink tubing on altissimo key shank

machine and lap male tenon to perfectly match female receiver on body

mask off neck engraving tighter, should be MORE elaborate 

BODY TUBE

level all tone holes

open body pip to #42 drill size

thread body pip

install THREE RING strap hook (picture provided)

install “Saxgourmet” RH thumb hook (sample provided)

increase the height of circular LH thumb button 3 mm for 240 degrees, leaving the         original height between the 8 and 5 o’clock positions

on plated horns, BRIGHT plate the neck receiver

add decorative engraving to tube/bow  and bow/bell trim rings

mask off body tube engraving (which should be MORE elaborate) tighter

Add high G tone hole 

PADS AND RESONATORS

Saxgourmet brand black kangaroo pads installed with SHELLAC

Solid Brass Saxgourmet Noyek resonators

FINISHES

Florentine Gold with bright gold keywork and highlights

Bright Silver (gold wash in bell?)

KEYWORK

Bumpers and silencers: replace cork with “felt” material (samples provided)

Plastic silencer: replace shrink tubing with Teflon shrink tubing

High G/High F# key: should be concave like G# and chromatic F# key

Finger touches (main stacks): should be real Mother of Pearl, not metal

Octave key “fork” contacts: should not fit TOO tightly!

Front F key: add roller (picture provided)

Bis key: add roller (picture provided)

A key touch: use FIRM felt bumper, not cork. Sample provided

Chromatic C key: fork should not fit too tightly. Use Teflon tubing. Add silencer to key touch bottom so the key does not flex

Chromatic Bb key: same as chromatic C key

Speaker key: use high quality cork pad

G# key: install “never stick” mechanism .012” flat spring and #80 screw (picture provided)

Low Bb key touch: increase height by 3mm. Picture provided

Low Eb/Low C key touches: increase height 3mm. Should form an approximate semi-circle. Retain existing roller. (picture provided)

Low B/Low Bb key cups: add additional arms, like low C

Adjusters: Low Eb/Low C/Low B/Low Bb: use high quality firm felt and “jewel” topper

ENGRAVING

Bell Flare:  (top) L A SAX  (bottom) STEVE GOODSON MODEL

Bell: elaborate floral motif, LA SAX on key side, Steve Goodson Model in small letters below  LA Sax logo. Floral motif should wrap around sides of bell. On Florentine finish, engraving to be masked off in bright highlights.

Bow: continue floral motif to point of Low C tone hole

Body Tube: up sides as on prototype. Mask on Florentine finish. Same floral motif as bell

Neck: same motif and masking as appropriate. More elaborate than on prototypes
